South Africa's summer weather and production season begin towards the end of September and slows down in May.
The country, with its size and geography offer a variety of weather patterns.
The Western Cape Province, the main destination for film and photo shoots, is divided in three climatic zones.
The Northern Part, known as the Karoo Desert, is flat and sparsely vegetated, dry and sunny almost throughout the year.
The South Eastern Part, located on the Indian Ocean, has a more tropical climate and vegetation, higher humidity and yearly rainfall.
The Western Part, facing the Atlantic Ocean, has warm and dry summers, but cold and rainy winters.
Temperatures vary between 16°C and 32°C (degrees centigrade) in summer, and 7°C - 18°C in winter.

The South Easter Wind blows irregularly during the early summer months. Although at times an inconvenience, it clears the sky from any clouds and gives it the characteristic intense blue colour and long hours of sunshine (average 10 hours a day between beginning of October and end of April).
Because of the shape of the Cape Peninsula, there are many alternative locations protected from the wind, and shooting is only slightly disrupted.
