When the South African summer turns into autumn, the Greek one begins: between May and October, the country is blessed with the steadiest summer weather pattern, proverbially ideal for vacations and photography. Rainfall is almost non-existent, while the average temperature during the same months is 24C (degrees centigrade). The average hours of sunshine between beginning of May and end of October is close to 10 hours per day.
The Meltemia (North Winds) blow at times during the months of July and August, in particular over the Cycladic Islands.
