GENERAL INFORMATION Greece: both the mainland and its many beautiful islands have always been a very popular tourists' destination. Because of its position in the Mediterranean, the rich history and many influences from the neighbouring European and Middle Eastern countries, Greece offers unique architectural styles. The country's beauty, incredible light and fantastic summer weather, coupled with the infrastructure of a growing European capital and affordable prices, were only some of the many reasons for the successful establishment of a professional film and photo industry. Within a few hours reach from most other cities in Europe, Athens is modernising its services to meet the standards required in the 21st century. A state of the art airport and road system has been built to further facilitate transportation, ahead of the hosting of the 2004 Olympic Games, together with the quantity and quality of available accommodation, to suit every budget.
